Housing Income Officer

We have been providing services aiming to end homelessness in South End for 2 decades, this year we are aiming to expand our cold weather provision to include more emergency beds for rough sleepers.

We understand the causes of homelessness to be more thansimply the absence of secure housing and our volunteers play a key part in enabling us to offer an enhanced service to those accessing our accommodation that is both psychologically informed and recovery focused


The Role
Use computerised accounting systems including transaction processing, journals and main ledger reconciliations.

Highly numerate and have good financial awareness with the ability to keep accurate records and extract/interpret data and write reports.

Timemanagement and good organisational skills to work unsupervised and to strict deadlines.


To assist the Housing Income Controller in the management our property rental income and tenant service charges within agreed budgets.

This post is based within the Housing Income team that sits within the wider supported housing operational services.

TheHousing Income Team maintains very close links with our emergency and supported housing accommodation services teams throughout the borough to ensure efficient and effective processes are in place to manage rental income, rent top up, service charges and arrearswith all of our residents.

To provide financial assistance to the Housing Income Controller and Operational teams


Working under the leadership and guidance of the Housing Income Controller to provide a responsive and customer orientated rent management service to Accommodation Managers and residents.


Requirements:


  • Ideally Part qualified AAT/ACCA/CIMA or Equivalent
  • Working in an accounting or Housing Income environment
  • Practical experience of computerised accounting systems including transaction processing Journals and main ledger reconciliations
  • Knowledge of Housing Benefits income and Local Authority rental
  • Highly numerate and have good financial awareness with the ability to keep accurate records and extract/interpret data and write reports.

  • Time management and good organisational skills to work unsupervised and to strict deadlines
