The Role


The BI Supervisor will be responsible for direct line management of two FTE involved in the full ETL processes and reporting lifecycle.

This role will require working directly with external parties and internal stakeholders to understand data requirementsand reporting needs and translating those into full technical specifications to maintain data cubes and deliver reporting solutions.

Key Duties/Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implementation and management of current and new ETL processes from various disparate data sources, systems and networks in order to deliver data cubes
  • Work with key stakeholders to understand business requirements and information needs.
  • Build, support and develop a BI team to produce high quality insight, analysis and support to the business.
  • Coordinate incoming projects and BAU new and change request to ensure that the team deliver on agreements and provide executive level communication on progress and providing recommendations on next steps
  • Manage incoming issues escalated from the helpdesk to ensure they are resolved within agreed SLAs
  • Provide coaching and development opportunities to the team.
Person specification

  • Expert knowledge of configuring, managing and deploying SQL Server
  • Export knowledge of workflow/ETL tools, including configuration (e.g., Alteryx, Data Factory)
  • Export knowledge of visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI)
  • Working knowledge of MS SharePoint and PowerApps and Dataverse.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills
  • Knowledge of software QA and UAT processes
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent SQL and database skills
  • Strong technical skills to manage databases and reporting tools including configuration and system upgrades (e.g., Alteryx, Tableau, SQL) using manufacturers' best practice.
  • Working knowledge of Prince 2 and / or Agile / Scrum Project Management methods
  • Commercial business acumen to supply effective analysis and recommendations.
  • Knowledge on designing project plans for system deployment and development
  • Knowledge of technical documentation methods and processes
  • Expert level knowledge of MS Excel and other productivity tools
Experience

  • Management, coaching and development experience of BI/MI teams.
  • Experience managing software QA and UAT teams and processes
  • Extensive practical knowledge in importing data and data blending/ manipulation (ETL) for use in reports and visualisations.
  • Experience with software change management and version control tools
  • Experience with workflow software (e.g., Alteryx, Data Factory)
  • Experienced in the design, development and deployment of MI, BI and reporting solutions (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI)
  • Experience with multiple large databases (structured and unstructured) including transactional replication.
  • Managing business and change requests.
  • Experience working on project presentations for external and internal audiences
  • A track record of translating business processes into analytical tasks and initiatives to deliver comprehensive data analysis in complex analytical projects with the ability to communicate results in a clear and concise way
