We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated person with a passion for supporting the families of children with social communication difficulties/autism.

You will join our existing SCPC to act together as the focal point of support for families during the assessment process on the Hounslow Social Communication Pathway.

You will be working within the Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT) for Autism Assessment.

You will have the opportunity to provide compassionate pre and post assessment care for families, contribute to parent training on a variety of topics about autism and related difficulties, support the team in developing and managing the pathway, and coordinate the team with support.

The role is varied and includes both administrative and clinical work. You will work both independently and supervised alongside members of the MDT.

  • To act as the focal point of support for families during the assessment process on the Hounslow Social Communication Pathway
  • To provide pre and post assessment care for families, giving information on the assessment procedure and giving advice and signposting to services following diagnosis.
  • To assist in the preassessment information gathering, including observations of the child, ensuring all relevant information is available in a timely manner for the assessment.
  • To undertake liaison with other agencies (e.g. Early Years Practitioners, EPs, SENCos) as part of the information gathering and postdiagnostic support as appropriate
  • To contribute to provision of support in pre and postdiagnostic parent training programmes run as part of the Multidisciplinary process.
  • To organise and prepare for MDT planning and CPD meetings, chair the meeting after a period of induction and take minutes and coordinate actions arising
  • To manage waiting lists for the assessment process, ensuring waits are kept within the NICE/trust guidelines, alerting team to changes / difficulties in a timely manner
  • To liaise with Admin re appointments for the assessment process
  • To provide a consistent point of access for parents at times of difficulty / crisis or when issues are escalating and to follow up with relevant team members as appropriate
  • To facilitate parent support and training groups for pathway, on a variety of topics, with the team
  • To support the team in evaluating and developing the pathway
