About The Role:


We are looking for a Communications and Engagement Officer to join our Northern Ireland Communications team to help us tell and showcase fantastic stories from the organisations we support to a range of networks, stakeholders and the wider public.


Working as part of the Communications Team in our Belfast office and line managed by the Communications and Engagement Manager, you will deliver a range of communications activities with an emphasis on content creation and storytelling.

You will also provide support to our grant holders throughout their journey with us and ensure that customer insight and feedback is taken on board in all that we do.


You will develop and create content to support our grant holders, which tells the story of how National Lottery funding is supporting communities across Northern Ireland.

Your content will be shared across a range of channels, including social media, digital media, traditional media and publications.


You will also use your communications skills and experience to help us communicate consistently and effectively using a variety of methods and tools.

Planning and organisational skills are a must, as you will be responsible for arranging and facilitating in person and virtual events sometimes working towards tight deadlines.


You will need a broad set of skills (including planning, writing and storytelling) so that you can play an active part in our multi-disciplinary communications team, and pick up other work when required.


You will be a flexible worker:
comfortable using your own initiative to lead pieces of work or working collaboratively with colleagues.


This role presents a great opportunity to work collaboratively with others as you will work closely with customers, other colleagues in Northern Ireland and across the UK, as well as with key stakeholders to help promote our funding and tell others about the impact it has for communities.


This is a permanent role covering three days per week (with additional hours available increasing this to five days per week between August April 2025).

Essential criteria

  • Experience of working in a digital communications customer focused role.
  • Experience of developing and producing succinct and accurate copy to deadline, and digital/social media skills including content production.
  • Experience of developing and maintaining a network of key contacts including key stakeholders.
  • Wellorganised and able to prioritise, you must be able to make decisions quickly and work effectively as part of a busy team.
  • Experience of using design software such as Adobe and CANVA and of using Microsoft Office packages

Desirable criteria

  • Proficient in using digital software such as Microsoft 365 for collaborative working.
  • An understanding of Northern Ireland's voluntary and community sector is desirable.
  • Access to a form of transport to meet requirement of role
