Groundworker:


Responsibilities:


  • Perform excavation and site preparation tasks, including clearing vegetation, digging, and grading.
  • Operate and maintain heavy machinery, such as excavators, loaders, and compactors, safely and efficiently.
  • Install and maintain drainage systems, including pipes, culverts, and catch basins.
  • Lay foundations, footings, and concrete slabs according to project specifications.
  • Assist with landscaping and horticultural work, including planting trees, shrubs, and flowers.
  • Follow blueprints, construction plans, and project specifications to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks.
  • Assist with tree planting and tree care activities, including pruning and removals.
  • Implement erosion control measures, such as installing silt fences and erosion blankets.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety regulations and protocols.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient and effective completion of projects.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Groundworker, with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of excavation, site preparation, drainage systems, concrete work, and landscaping.
  • Ability to operate and maintain heavy machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans.
  • Excellent physical stamina and ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including heavy lifting.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and protocols related to ground work and construction.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Relevant certifications or licenses, such as CSCS (cscs required), CPCS, or NRSWA, are preferred but not required.
