Responsibilities of Part Time Cook

  • The importance of high quality food that is well presented can not be overstated in a residential home. Meals are often the focal point of the day for residents.
  • The cook will not just provide food that is attractive to look at and tastes good, but will speak to residents to ensure that they enjoyed their meal.
  • The full time cook, who is also the head cook will lead by example in maintaining standards of hygiene and quality of food, however these standards will not be maintained if the part time cook does not accept how important they are and how they benefit the residents lives and the quality of food.
  • Freshly made puddings for lunch and cakes for tea are made daily.
  • The Old Vicarage uses as little frozen food as the budget allows.
  • The cook will use all the fruit and herbs in the garden and will collect them from the garden when they are ready.

The cooks at The Old Vicarage will attempt to exceed the expectations of residents, families and guests.

  • Responsible for ensuring breakfast is prepared for care staff to give to residents. 2. Responsible for cooking meals
  • Responsible for ensuring teas is prepared and laid out
  • Ensuring there is a fresh supply of home made cakes and that there are some stored in the freezer.
  • Responsible for ensuring kitchen equipment is functioning and telling management when it is not working
  • Responsible for ensuring enough stock in kitchen and warning management if any is likely to run out.
  • Responsible for ensuring kitchen is kept clean and tidy.
  • Ensure food cellar is kept clean and tidy.
  • All kitchen washing up during the morning, until lunch time.
  • Giving out mid morning drinks at 10 am
  • Assist in updating cooking menus as needed
  • Have knowledge of temperature storage requirements.
  • Adhere to food hygiene practices and undertake food hygiene training
  • Cover Annual Leave for full time cook

Salary:
£11.30-£11.55 per hour
