Please note, we are seeking two postholders, to fill the equivalent of 1.8 full time roles. Therefore, we would welcome applicants seeking both part time and full-time positions.


We are looking for two CAMHS Mental Health Practitioners to work with Young People and their families as part of the Sheffield CAMHS community teams.


Sheffield CAMHS have two mainstream community teams in different bases; both have supportive structures for clinicians including daily multi-disciplinary Huddles.


There are several therapists/ allied health professionals of different modalities across CAMHS and SCH Psychological Services, and the Trust supports us joining to meet; there are a number of established forums in place to provide professional support, development, and clinical supervision.

There are opportunities to progress beyond Band 6 and into more specialist posts within the CAMHS structure.


Sheffield Children's is one of three independent, specialist paediatric hospitals in the country, providing dedicated healthcare for children and young people across community, mental health and acute specialist settings.

To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your own work including management of all patients in your care.


To assess capacity and gain valid informed consent to work in a legal framework with clients who are under 18, and to include their parents in this process.


To provide psychological therapy input in working conditions which may be hazardous e.g., working with teenagers who may have distressing life experiences, emotional difficulties and who may have challenging behaviour, and their parents who may also have complex difficulties, and where child protection issues may also be present.


To be responsible for the assessment of children and young people to identify the appropriate intervention for their needs, with subsequent production of individual care plans adhering to team's referral pathway, ensuring the delivery of effective client care.

To accept responsibility for a designated caseload of clients in collaboration with members of the MDT.

To monitor, evaluate, review, and modify treatment in order to measure progress and ensure the effectiveness of the intervention.


To undertake regular attendance at team briefings, professional meetings, managerial and clinical supervision, including mentor relationship/networking with peers, as appropriate and as directed by line manager.


Reporting to the team leader(s), to be responsible for the day-to-day organisational planning of personal workloads, diary, and meeting schedules.


To participate in clinical team meetings and reviews, providing detailed verbal and written reports on interventions made and client's progress.


To be actively involved in the information given and support offered to children and young people and their family/carers in regard to your particular therapeutic intervention.


To be actively involved in the development and implementation of department policies and procedures, maintaining the discretion to make clinical judgements and decisions within professional competency.

To be responsible for gathering own monthly clinical data of activity/waiting times.

Subject to service developments this post may extend to other areas of the service.

Communication

To ensure that the young person's views are central to their overall plan of care within the Inpatient team. Expert verbal and non-verbal skills are required in making effective contact and communication.

To communicate with parents, and MDT colleagues about patient progress whilst respecting the young person's autonomy and confidentiality.

To discuss psychotherapeutic progress with young people who may find difficulty in self-awareness and emotional expression.

To develop skills in communicating complex, sensitive and contentious information to clients and carers as appropriate.

To establish robust communication networks with clients, carers, multidisciplinary team colleagues, and other health and education workers and agencies, communicating own specialist professional and patient-related information effectively to ensure collaborative working and in the interests of demonst
