Handyperson - Preston District Day Service
We are looking for someone to provide repair and the maintenance of the buildings in the adult disability day and short break services.
The role will involve:
- carrying out a variety of building inspections and repairs or improvements as directed by the Service Manager.
- carrying out specific cleaning duties both internally and externally
- promoting dignity, independence and respect and delivering high quality repair and maintenance services for people we support and staff in day and short break environments.
- through the receipt of direct instruction or acting on initiative to carry out premises inspections. Prioritise and identify the necessary materials to complete a wide variety of building repair and maintenance, including reporting feedback on hazards and concerns to the Service Manager as required.
- carrying out work place inspections
- completing paper and electronic monitoring records as necessary
- on an occasional and individual approved basis to carry out reasonable internal and external decorative maintenance.
- to assist in the movement and relocation of furniture and equipment when appropriate and dispose of any furniture and equipment safely.
- completing and updating records and inventories.
- mowing lawns and maintaining pathways and flower beds
- carry out safety checks and gritting of pathways and car parks in hazardous, winter conditions e.g. floods, snow or any similar emergency situations.
- ensuring that all areas within the site are free from litter and that all drains and gullies are free-flowing and clean.
- dealing with enquiries from workers and contractors and, where appropriate, advising the service managers of their presence.
- minor maintenance of the heating system e.g. bleeding radiators
- changing light bulbs as required and checking emergency lighting
- to be fully aware of Health and Safety issues relating to the repair, maintenance and refurbishment of buildings and consistently operate in a safe manner respecting the safety of yourself and others at all times.
- carry out service errands as requested
- to act as a key holder for day and short break services
- taking delivery of stores, materials and other goods and storing these appropriately
You will be required to provide a car for use in connection with the duties of this post and must be insured for business use.
This position is part time, please note the salary quoted is full time equivalent, the salary received will be paid on a pro-rata basis.
