The Role


Social Work England are the specialist regulator for social work in England, focused on enabling positive change in social work.

The executive office provides administrative support across our organisational executive and governance needs. It's a small busy team that work collaboratively together whilst also having distinct executive and governance responsibilities.

The directors' assistant is responsible for providing support to executive directors and assistant directors.

You will provide co-ordination and preparation for regular meetings, deal with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, plan ahead and proactively manage diaries to ensure consistent and smooth support for directors.


What you will do

  • Proactively support the executive and assistant directors including diary and meeting coordination, helping to plan and manage their varied and busy workloads, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Establish robust links with direct reports to executives and assistant directors and arrange meetings.
  • Coordinate room bookings and catering, arranging travel and accommodation for external meetings, submit expenses on behalf of executives.
  • Organise regular corporate meetings such as monthly Directorate meetings and other regular programme performance or servicerelated meetings working with the chair on setting the agenda, preparing information packs, producing timely and accurate minutes of meetings, action logs and learning points.
  • Provide meeting support for both internal and external meetings, preparing agendas, collating and circulating documents, formatting presentations and spreadsheets, taking minutes and update systems with agreed actions.
  • Action relevant follow up work from meetings and following up and escalating where needed.
  • Liaising with and working with stakeholders. Support time bound projects and task and finish groups.
  • Proactively communicate to ensure questions and queries are addressed in good time and escalate as necessary. Cover for colleagues as and when required.
  • Maintain high levels of confidentiality by creating and maintaining accurate records, managing and auditing folders and databases to ensure safe storage, including filing and archiving, of information and files.
  • Learn and develop your skills, knowledge and experience across executive, assurance business planning and improvement areas.

Your skills and knowledge

  • Experience of administrative and diary management working in a similar role with senior leaders or evidence of transferable skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience of liaising at all levels.
  • Able to plan and prioritise work, manage time effectively and deal with changing priorities and competing demands.
  • Experience of coordinating meetings and minute taking.
  • Ability to take the initiative, work autonomously and flexibly to meet business needs.
  • Experience of working with confidential information.
  • Experience of working collaboratively as part of a team able to build strong relationships with others.
  • Ability to work autonomously, flexibly and collaboratively with others.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • A can do attitude with the ability to solve problem and think creatively.
  • Competence in MS Office software
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams Meetings.

  • Salary: £26,361 rising to £27,379 after successful completion of a 6month probationary period.
