We are seeking an experienced Theatre Equipment Coordinator familiar with Orthopaedic instrumentation/implants to ensure a safe, effective perioperative service is provided to patients and Consultant users.
This is a secondment post.
The Orthopaedic Equipment Co-ordinator (OEC), will work with the Lead and Senior theatre practitioners with in the Trauma and Orthopaedic specialities, to effective co-ordinate the prosthesis and instrumentation within the operating theatre.
The Orthopaedic Equipment Co-ordinator will provide assistance in ordering, receiving, assisting in the process of sterilising equipment and return of loan equipment required by the Surgeon in the operating theatres.
The main responsibilities are ,
- Assist in preparing theatres, instrument trays, consumables and equipment in the correct and timely manner.
- To assist in regular stock checks and audits within the department to make sure appropriate levels of implants and equipment are available, and will liaise with procurement and the senior theatre team with any discrepancies.
- Utilising effective communication skills to assist in the preparation for the environment and equipment and acting as a link between the surgical team and other parts of the theatre and hospital.
- Plan and organise the appropriate equipment to arrive in appropriate time for decontamination
- Deal with nonclinical queries from members of administrative and clerical teams
- Develop a sound knowledge of products used in theatres
- Working with materials management and the Senior Orthopaedic theatre team to review stock valuation figures, investigating and resolving any discrepancies or errors
- To ensure Trust compliance with information Governance standards around data correction and support the Trust Data quality initiatives
The Trust provides a full range of general hospital services and some areas of specialist complex care to around 500,000 people living in the south part of West Kent and the north part of East Sussex.
We work from two main clinical sites:
Maidstone Hospital and Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury.
Tunbridge Wells Hospital opened in 2011 and provides single rooms with en-suites for all in-patients - the first of its kind in the country.
