The Opportunity
Working as a Design Officer you will support with managing all Design Aligned Activities for the IPO Design Function, including scoping projects & selecting assets for remediation or replacement.
Key Accountabilities of this role will include:
- Designing of Mains Replacement projects to meet the 30/30 Programme, through GD2 and into GD
- Undertaking hydraulic modelling utilising GBNA
- Management of Design Data and Pre construction information from various sources in various formats
- Liaison with Third Parties & Internal Stakeholders
- Analysis of the Network Standby Duties
- Providing Technical Advice & Support to Clients
- Supervising Engineering & Contract Staff (up to 10 indirect reports)
- Developing the Design Function and its processes
- Using the design tools (EG: MRP, MRDST, GBNA/LINAS, GDFO) and/or outputs to develop, optimise and challenge a project design to produce robust, fit for purpose and affordable design strategies
- Monitoring performance against the Programme plan and producing performance information for IPO to identify and escalate risks/issues relating to performance, run rates, resources etc.
What You'll Bring
Qualifications:
- Degree in an appropriate Technical Discipline or
- HND/HNC in Engineering with additional experience to embed the theoretical qualification or
- Equivalent relevant experience in the design of Gas Distribution Networks
- Postdegree/Qualification or experience in the design of Gas Distribution Networks
- Contract Management
- Project Management
- Leading and active involvement in implementing innovations and new processes
- Understanding of commercial and regulatory background
- Have a dedicated approach to working within and meeting strict deadlines.
- Ability to work on own initiative, selfmotivated.
