Overview:

Do you have experience developing content for a range of communication channels including social media? Can you demonstrate strong organisation skills, while prioritising workloads to meet deadlines? If the answers to the above are yes, then this exciting opportunity could be for you.


National Records of Scotland (NRS) is the Scottish nation's record keeper and official source of demographic statistics - information about population, households, migration, vital events, life expectancy and electoral statistics and maintains the nation's records archive as one of Scotland's five National Collections.


As part of the NRS communications team, you will help to promote the high profile work of the organisation across a range of channels, including social media, media relations, websites and internal communications.

We are looking for someone who has good experience of developing and delivering social media strategies, whilst being a communications all-rounder.


Responsibilities:


  • Daytoday development of content for internal and external communications channels including website, social media, intranet and newsletters.
  • Planning and delivering social media content strategies and developing and implementing content plans to improve reach and engagement among customers and stakeholder groups.
  • Developing news releases and other proactive content for media, as well as dealing with reactive queries and developing lines to take.
  • Leading on production of regular evaluation of tone and sentiment of communications activity, helping to ensure the results are used to drive continuous improvement.
  • Building and maintaining good working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders across NRS, the Scottish Government and the wider public sector.

Essential Criteria:


  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to produce concise, clear, well-structured written work across different channels.
  • Experience of developing and delivering social media strategies and content plans.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - able to develop and manage effective working relationships internally and externally, and experience of working with others to deliver a shared outcome.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills - the ability to work flexibly and manage and prioritise competing workloads and work to tight deadlines.

Location:This post is usually based in General Register House, Edinburgh and offers hybrid working in line with current Scottish Government and National Records of Scotland policies.

Minimum Time in Post:


You will be expected to remain in post for a minimum of three years unless successful at gaining promotion to a higher Band or Grade.
