About Us:

THE EXTRAORDINARY STORY OF THE CARRICK YARD INVESTMENT

The Finance Team in Westminster City Council is a world of extraordinary stories, where we go above and beyond for our residents - in all sorts of pioneering ways.

Our work has the ability to have profound impact on residents' lives. Being smart and courageous with the council's finances means we can achieve more for our residents.

Take the Carrick Yard housing development in Luton Street.

When a big international building firm couldn't find a sales partner, we stepped in to create a joint venture partnership and underwrite any unsold units to protect our investment.

Then when we felt a big banking partner would be overcharging the venture for financing the development, we decided to finance it ourselves.

The result? 171 homes are now under construction, leading the redevelopment of the Church Street area, whilst the council is projecting a potential return on investment of almost 14% - far in excess of anything that can be achieved on cash deposits in current market conditions.

And why does this success matter? Because it allows us to invest even more in public services that are the lifeblood of our communities.

The Role:

As an Electoral Services Officer, you can make your own powerful contribution to the lives of Westminster's residents by ensuring community participation in the democratic process.

This role places you at the very heart of elections, ensuring all processes run smoothly.

Working as part of a small team dedicated to high-quality service, you will help compile and maintain our statutory electoral registers, oversee the annual electoral registration canvass and administer the elections, referendums and other ballots themselves.

This will include publicising elections and registration, as well as training the contact centre staff, elections staff and registration canvassers we employ.

It's a highly responsible role, in which you'll manage specific projects, produce written reports, take charge of special registrations (such as service and overseas voters) and ensure that we uphold electoral integrity and prevent fraud.

About You:

This is an opportunity to use your expertise in administering elections in one of London's most densely populated and diverse boroughs.

Ideally educated to graduate level, you'll also ideally already have substantial experience in elections and electoral registration, along with a proven ability to manage projects and people.

Highly organised and analytical, you'll be able to prioritise a busy workload, especially during major elections.

Your well-developed communication and customer service skills mean you are ready to work closely with councillors and MPs and can confidently advise representatives of political parties.
