Maternity Triage, Day Assessment Unit and Maternity Advice Line Midwife.

Our triage and Maternity Advice Line Service is currently undergoing a huge service transformation including a single point of contact for telephone triage and the implementation of the BSOTS triaging system.

We are looking for enthusiastic, dynamic, highly motivated midwives who are passionate about providing acute emergency triage care to women and their families in the antenatal and postnatal period

Main duties of the job

You will assess, implement and evaluate care delivered, so that the women's individual requirements for care are met in all aspects of midwifery.

You will act as an advocate for women and develop skills required to manage own workload appropriately i.e. ability to prioritise.


You will provide acute emergency care and fetal surveillance to women and their families in the antenatal and postnatal periods.


You will practice in accordance with professional, ethical and legal framework for midwifery and work within Trust guidelines, policies and procedures when carrying out midwifery care.

The post holder will be required to deliver safe, quality midwifery care, antenatally and postnatally to women and their families whilst developing key triaging skills, abilities and experience in an acute emergency area.

Working with support from senior midwives but within the multidisciplinary team and complying with Trust policies and guidelines.

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Registered Midwife
  • Evidence of recent relevant CPD
  • Diploma/Degree
  • Mentoring Course/SSA
Desirable criteria

  • Master's Degree
  • Possession of a teaching qualification
Physical skills

  • Ability to work Cross site when required

  • Current UK driving license
