Salary:
Up to £65,000 dependent on experience + bonus + benefits
Hybrid working pattern:
Where possible, we will seek to accommodate a blended approach to on-site and remote working
- such as 1-2 days per week on-site or attending external meetings
The opportunity:
We have a great opportunity for you to be involved in some of the most exciting programmes in Defence Whilst joining a dynamic, focussed and growing team at the forefront of all MBDA UK future programmes for the UK Armed Forces, you'll be provided with a great platform to grow your experience and expertise.
You'll be part of MBDAs Research and Technology department, working within our Future Systems directorate.
The department focusses on planning, developing technology roadmaps, identifying critical research needs and providing technical leadership during the bidding and delivery phase.
This is across a range of research studies and Technology Demonstrator Programmes (TDPs).The role offers a breadth of variety through co-ordination and management across multiple internal and external partners. You would have the opportunity to develop new technologies that offer enhanced capabilities for our future products. You would be investigating innovative science and novel technologies that contribute to MBDA's Weapon systems.
Success within this role will have a significant impact across MBDA, ensuring that critical technologies are sufficiently matured and de-risked before key decision points are reached for major development programmes.
You'll be responsible for:
- Improving the exploitation value of UK MoDfunded technology programmes
- Ownership & Technical Co-Ordination of MBDA's Research & Technology Plan, consulting MBDA (and external) Subject Matter Experts, Product Line Owners and Sales & Business Development representatives (as required)
- Development of Technology Maturation Plans, in conjunction with functional areas, to capture the UK vision and strategy for product development
- Identifying gaps in the funding and finding opportunities for UK Customer funding
- Identification of transverse R&T opportunities that have broad benefits across multiple future products
- Seeing opportunities to align research with needs of external research frameworks, principally the Weapon Sector Research Framework (WSRF)
- Review of technical recommendations into the WSRF, including support to assessment panels and lead selection meetings
What we're looking for from you:
- Consistent track record of leadership, comfortable to work in a highly collaborative environment with undefined, uncertain and changing conditions
- Experience managing innovation, confident in ability to assess technical feasibility, develop technology roadmaps and identify Research needs
- Experience of working closely with large supplier organisations, SMEs and academia to deliver technically ambitious research activities
- Leadership and diplomacy to engage effectively with both customer, other industry representatives and across MBDA's Engineering organisations to develop understanding and knowledge across a range of technology domains
- Ability to manage a large number of activities concurrently
