Lydd Airport is a busy and expanding general aviation airport serving a wide range of aircraft operations including: commercial, corporate, private, training, military and unmanned aerial systems in Class G airspace.
We have a vacancy for a full-time SATCO who is an experienced
Aerodrome (ADI/TWR), Approach Procedural (APP) rated Air Traffic Control Officer with a
Met Observer's Certificate, OJTI endorsement and UK Class 3 ATCO Medical.

General Responsibilities:

1 The SATCO, reporting to the Accountable/Finance Manager, is responsible for the overall management of the ATC Unit to:
- Maintain and safe, effective and efficient Air Traffic Control Service
- Ensure staff are correctly licensed, current and competent
- Manage staffing, training and rostering in accordance with regulatory and business requirements
- Liaise with CAA SARG and ensure regulatory compliance
- Perform the role of Safety Manager for the ANSP SMS
- Assist the Head of Airside Services with input on physical and electronic safeguarding
- Act as the Airport's provider/source of aeronautical information to AIS via Aurora (UK AIP) or NOTAM
- Oversee the SMS, QMS and Change Management
- Ensure reporting and investigation of occurrences
- Oversee meteorological service provision
- Liaise with NATS ATC Engineering Services in relation to maintenance and fault resolution of CNS
- Act as editor for MATS2, UTP, UCS, CMM, SMM, QMM, ATEMEx and other ATC documents
- Maintain UK (EU) 2017/373 Compliance Matrices
- Manage internal and external audits
- Administer ATS staff monthly payroll returns, leave, sickness, courses, attendance and disciplinaries
- Act as the interface between ATC and other Airport Departments and represent ATC at managerial level as well as externally
- Provide ATM related information and statistics at internal management and stakeholder meetings
2.2 The SATCO will be required to validate ADI/TWR and APP Ratings within 6 months in order to provide annual leave cover and supplement ATC provision e.g.
Whilst carrying out controlling duties, the main objectives are listed below:
- Provide a safe, orderly and expeditious Air Traffic Control Service in accordance with MATS Part 1 and MATS Part
- Prepare METARS in accordance with CAP74
- Comply with UK (EU) 2015/340 Licensing requirements
- Report incidents in line with national and local procedures
- Assist and participate in Unit training programmes
- Learn the role of the ATSA during Transitional Training
3. Qualifications and Experience
3.1 Essential:
- Current ADI rating with valid TWR endorsement
- Current valid APP rating
- Current UK Class 3 ATCO Medical Certificate
- Meteorological Observer's Certificate
- English Language Level
- PC literate, excellent communicator
- For the duration of employment, a current, clean CRC to satisfy airport airside security standards.
- 5yr work history check
- Clean full UK driving licence
3.2 Desirable:
- Previous OJTI endorsement an advantage
- Good organisational and managerial skills
- Team worker, customer focused
- Analytical mind with ability to assimilate information from a variety of sources and construct procedures, policies and instructions
- Enthusiastic and flexible, prepared to work shifts involving some weekends, bank holidays and unsociable hours
4. Remuneration and Benefits
- Hours: 40hrs per week rostered in shifts which may include weekends, bank holidays and unsociable hours.
- Salary according to experience and qualifications
