Responsibilities:


Description of the Business Line or Department

The Finance Division is in charge of:

  • Steering the financial and budgetary strategy of GBIS, and its investment and development policy;
  • Measuring and analysing the profitability of the activities portfolio (clients, businesses, geographies) and the use of all resources (overheads, balance sheet, capital, liquidity, etc.)
  • Certifying GBIS accounts (accounting quality, valuation methods, orders options, etc., regardless of the production centres, visàvis Finance, external auditors, regulators, etc.

Summary of the key purposes of the role

  • Role sits within the Finance team dedicated to the Agency business (legal entity Société Générale International Limited
  • SGIL)
  • Reporting to the SGIL Head of Product Accounting Control, you will be helping to ensure that the P&L of the entity, and the associated balance sheet (and offbalance sheet) is accurately reflected in the General Ledger
  • Participate on the implementation of the Finance strategic roadmap & continuous improvements
  • Oversight of the offshore team in charge of production
  • Provide support in monthly account closing across all the asset classes in SGIL
  • Perform Accounting P&L and balance sheet analysis and reporting to management (across in SGIL, Finance and Front office)
  • Managing ad hoc requests from SGIL Finance Management and FINANCE business partners (Front Office, IT, Operations, Risk)
  • Supporting the team for the year end external audit

Summary of responsibilities

  • Developing analysis and controls over the Product Control Accounting framework of SGIL
  • Assist in new business developments and enhancements to industrialize the team production
  • Working closely with other finance teams and Business Units to ensure that the production of financial data is reliable, complete, and accurately reflected by client, business and functional lines
  • Participating in projects to Change the Bank with impact in Finance department
  • Support strategic implementations & guide relevant projects
  • Participating to the SGIL Monthly financials presentation to CFO
  • Review and update of policies and procedures documentation (papers and supporting presentation) at least yearly
  • Participating to the development of automated solutions for SGIL finance department
  • Covering monthly accounting production (P&L, Balance Sheet and Off-Balance Sheet), reporting & control, analysis, adhoc investigations & explanations (to management & business lines)

Profile required:


Competencies

  • Knowledge of Financial & Product accounting across Prime & Commodities product control
  • General knowledge/interest in the offerings of the Agency markets
  • Education up to at least A-Level (with passes in GCSE English and Maths) or eqv
  • Organizational skills: Time management & ability to deliver
  • Good writing ability in Word & PowerPoint (drafting notes, reports, explanative papers)
  • Analytical & inquisitive mindset, open minded to change with the initiative to define and propose solutions
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines but also challenge requests & the approach to them
  • Ability to work with the team members globally based
  • Relationship skills to build a good working relationship with business lines, IT/Operations plus other Finance Departments in London, Head Office, offshored teams & other control functions.
  • Ability to think and act proactively displaying an entrepreneurial mindset and common sense
  • Willingness to expand product knowledge base and develop new skillsets
