We are looking to recruit an Estates Officer with Mechanical bias to support the team at Wrightington Hospital Operational Estates and Works department.

This is a full time post working 37.5 hours per week.

The Wrightington Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust is a non-smoking organisation. Smoking will not be permitted on any of the sites.


Operational Estates Duties of the Post;The post holder will support and assist the Estates Manager (Wrightington) in the delivery of an efficient and effective high quality Operational Estates service upon the Wrightington Hospital site and other Trust sites as required.

The post holder will manage and supervise maintenance contracts and directly employed labour, servicing, testing, validation, verification, maintenance and repair of buildings, engineering systems and grounds in line with Trust procedures.

On-Call


Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.


The post holder will be a person with a broad range of training and experience on complex, multi-faceted commercial equipment and have a background in plumbing/mechanical engineering and is able to plan and organise his/her own work using their own initiative and experience to manage his/her own work load.

He/she will demonstrate an understanding of and have the ability to develop further the technical aspects of the post.

He/she will need to be committed to flexibility and pursue continuing development of their technical knowledge and develop new skills whilst undertaking their duties as part of a team, these will including liaising with colleagues and other staff members, specialist contractors and provide, on occasion, training and instruction to medical and nursing staff and other colleagues when appropriate, the post holder will work towards the highest possible standards of patient care.
