  • Within Care and Rehabilitation Services, the philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to reintegrate into mainstream society on release. We seek to normalise prison conditions as far as possible to reflect life in the outside community. Our aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe and causes of prison stress are minimised. Central to our philosophy is the relationship between staff and prisoners. Our training and operational practices emphasise the need to treat prisoners with dignity and respect and G4S staff build positive and supportive relationships with the prisoners in their care. HMP Oakwood is one of the largest prisons in England and Wales, providing places for up to approximately 2100 Category C male prisoners.
  • We now have an opportunity for an organised and dynamic individual to join our team at HMP Oakwood to provide administrative support to the OMU Team. This position will ensure the effective implementation alongside the other OMU Case Admin of the Offender management structures. The OCA Administrator will be the main point of contact for staff, exoffenders, Community Offender Managers and other external agencies within the Community.
This is a non-operational job with no direct line management responsibilities


Key Responsibilities

  • Organise, produce and maintain all databases for the area of work
  • To ensure all transfers both out and In are completed within a timely manner.
  • Working with other external establishments to ensure the safety of other offenders.
  • To ensure any correspondence/queries within the work area are answered in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the mandatory daily tasks are completed.
  • Working with other internal departments to transfer offenders to ensure the safety of other offenders/staff within the establishment.
  • To ensure offender sentences are calculated in accordance with Sentence Calculation PSIs.
  • To ensure the monitoring of offenders is correctly inputted and completed in a timely manner.
  • Working alongside other Case Administrators to maintain offender's records within the establishment.
  • To provide support and guidance to Case Administrators if needed.

  • Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture across the site leading by example, this includes reporting accidents and near misses in a timely manner & follow the applicable safe systems of work for the role.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:


Essential Skills

  • Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent.
  • Experience of IT systems, and databases is essential
  • Completion of Sentence Calculation training to a Basic Level.
  • Practical knowledge and experience in custody work including a proven record of sentence calculation.
  • Practical knowledge and experience in the OMU case administrative functions and have been working in that environment for over 12 months.

Desirable Skills

  • Completion of Sentence Calculation training to an Advanced Level.
  • Completion of Fines calculation.
