We have an incredible opportunity to join us here at Phoenix Group as a Senior Project Actuary in our Open Actuarial reporting and Change team.

Who are we?

We want to be the best place that any of our 6,800 colleagues have ever worked.

We're the UK's largest long-term savings and retirement business.

We offer our 12 million customers products across our market-leading brands, including Standard Life, SunLife and ReAssure, with c.£259 billion of assets under administration.

We're a FTSE 100 organisation that is tackling key issues such as transitioning our portfolio to net zero by 2050, and we're not done yet.

The role

As a Senior Project Actuary in our Open Actuarial Reporting and Change team you will lead on the Actuarial Reporting interaction with strategic projects which are helping to achieve our organic growth objectives.

This will include a wide range of initiatives such as new exciting new product launches and proposition enhancements plus development of transformational reporting and MI capabilities.

Working closely with change-focused colleagues in the wider finance team, you will lead on actuarial operational readiness activity for specific projects across the end-to-end actuarial reporting process, covering systems and model delivery, base balance sheet reporting methodology alignment, calculation of financial impacts and organisational design considerations.

You will take a prominent leadership role, leading other internal and external colleagues in a matrix management environment while also supporting directly the development of a small number of direct reports.

Collaboration is key to our success and you will work with a wide variety of stakeholders at all levels and across many technical disciplines within the Phoenix Group.

What are we looking for?

This role would be great for an experienced qualified actuary with a proven track record of delivery in a commercial environment.

If you are keen to learn and develop in a changing environment, with direct experience working in actuarial change delivery this would give you a great foundation for success in the role.

Knowledge of financial reporting metrics, including SII or IFRS17 is highly beneficial.

You will have an ability to build strong relationships quickly, drive action through influence and leadership across boundaries, combined with experience and ability to influence and communicate effectively with executives at the business leadership level, as well as with SMEs across the business.

Knowledge of how new savings and retirement products are developed and the key actuarial considerations for a life insurer's balance sheet will align well with the key priorities in the role, as will an understanding of how actuarial models, accounting systems and data infrastructure interact.

As a Senior Leader in our business, development of our team is also critical, therefore experience leading teams and individuals - both directly and in matrix environments - while also helping them develop to achieve their potential is also very important for this role.

We want to hire the whole version of you.

We are committed to ensuring that everyone feels accepted and welcome applicants from all backgrounds.

If your experience looks different from what we've advertised and you believe that you can bring value to the role, we'd love to hear from you.

If you require any adjustments to the recruitment process, please let us know so we can help you to be at your best.
