The job:

We are looking for an ambitious
Inside Sales Representative to join our Laboratory Chemicals sales team in the UK.


In this role you will use your scientific knowledge and relationship building skills to sell our Laboratory Chemicals portfolio to our Research, Biotech, Pharma and Industrial customers across the UK.

You will initiate and build strong customer relationships over the phone/MS Teams and will also have the opportunity to meet with some of your key customers in person, driving sales over time.

Our laboratory chemicals portfolio includes solvents, reagents and chemicals for organic and inorganic research, sold under the brands Fisher Chemical, Fisher BioReagents and Thermo Scientific.

The role is office-based at our Inchinnan site near Glasgow, with the option to work from home one day per week.

Occasional travel may be required within the UK, up to 10% per annum, including some overnight stays. 75% of the role will be spent collaborating with customers, with 25% spent on planning, training and reporting.


This role is ideal for a Chemistry (or Life Sciences) graduate with some sales or customer-facing experience, who wants to pursue a sales career at a global company.

What will you do?

  • Successfully sell our Laboratory Chemicals product portfolio to customers across the UK primarily via the phone and MS Teams
  • Build longterm, productive, and mutually beneficial relationships with new and existing customers
  • Onboarding of new accounts
  • Build opportunity leads and actively followup quotations with the aim of increasing numbers and conversion rates
  • Develop a full understanding of our chemicals portfolio under the brands Fisher Chemical, Fisher BioReagents and Thermo Scientific
  • Optimally plan your time to improve impact
  • Act as an ambassador of Thermo Fisher Scientific and fully embrace the company values
  • Provide reports on a regular basis as requested, including customer connection reports, performance to targets, project progress, etc.

Who we are looking for:


  • A degree in a Life Science; Chemistry or Biochemistry knowledge a particular asset
  • Any kind of work experience outside of your degree; Sales/telesales/retail sales or customer service experience in any industry all of particular interest
  • Commercial approach, with a genuine desire to work in a sales role
  • Positive demeanor and desire to succeed
  • Strong communicator and confident personality; able to engage and influence at all levels
  • Good organizational skills with clear prioritization of short and longterm tasks
  • Fluent in English
  • Competent MS-Office skills
