This intern will work in one of our R&D teams to help develop and support Microbiology products that fulfil the needs of our customers.

This opportunity offers the chance to carry out microbiological practical work towards the development of microbial detection and isolation products, in a commercial setting whilst working to standard operating procedures (SOPs).


Division Specific Information:

The Microbiology Division (MBD) sits within Thermo Fisher Scientific's Speciality Diagnostic Group. Our customers worldwide trust our microbiology solutions for the diagnosis of infectious disease and detection of bacterial contamination.


What will you do?

  • Maintain stocks of media and consumables related to project;
  • Ensure that the microbiology laboratory operates smoothly, including calibration of equipment and ordering of diverse materials;
  • Conduct practical experiments that will inform product development and improvement decisions;
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders, you will assist with planning projects and produce regular progress reports;
  • Working to defined procedures, you will contribute to the decision process for selection of methods in a project;
  • You will work to solve problems, fix routine methods and interpret unexpected results;
  • Managing both project and nonproject activities, you will plan your own work and adapt to the changing business priorities;
  • Along with your colleagues, you will assist in the development and maintenance of R&D processes;

Who we are looking for:
experience, skills & abilities


  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree;
  • 0+ years of experience preferred;
  • You have good basic laboratory skills and have worked with microorganisms;
  • A good team player, you are able to work effectively with others;
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • You are adept at organizing your time and prioritizing your tasks.
