About the role


As Executive Assistant, you will be stepping into a newly formed role, supporting two members of the Save the Children UK Executive Leadership Team.


Reporting directly to the Executive Director for Organisational Effectiveness (ED OE) and Chief Financial and Technical Officer (CFTO), you'll be a key extension of the two executive members' senior teams, acting as a voice and point of contact for both.


In your role supporting the ED for Organisational Change, you'll be joining at an exciting time during our 'Organisation of the Future' change programme, with the opportunity to play a key role in project coordination and supporting the communication strategy for change projects, working closely with key stakeholders across the organisation.


Using your initiative and ability to think creatively to solve problems, you will support the work and vision of the executive members by ensuring that their time is well managed between operational, strategic and reflective work.


In this role, you will:


  • Provide high quality project coordination support for departmental change projects, working persuasively with stakeholders to ensure that reports and papers are delivered on time
  • Play a key role in the administration of Trustee Committees, including prepare board packs for committee meetings, and minute meetings
  • Play a proactive role in facilitating annual performance planning
  • Support and lead on adhoc projects or priorities as required and operate with delegated decisionmaking responsibility for specific issues identified by the ED OE and CFTO
  • Provide administrative support where needed by writing summary reports, preparing standard presentations, formatting documents, arranging travel and meeting venues as needed
  • Be a point of contact for the executive members across the SCUK and Save the Children International organisations.

About you


Confident supporting senior leaders and anticipating their needs, you'll be an excellent communicator able to engage and influence at all levels and deliver key messages effectively.


You'll be excited by making organisational change and collective progress happen, and thrive when working at pace, with the ability to pick up information quickly and adapt to change.


To be successful, you'll demonstrate:


  • Proven experience as an Executive Assistant or Personal Assistant supporting senior level executives or Directors
  • Excellent writing skills; ability and experience writing in different business formats, taking effective minutes and editing and proofing documents
  • Project management and project support skills; able to coordinate different and parallel work streams working with various stakeholders with professional courtesy and attention to detail
  • Highly IT literate and confident with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel, with experience creating reports, spreadsheets and presentations
  • High level of numerical literacy and a comfort with basic data analysis to support performance management
  • Experience of complex diary management and internal and external meeting support including organising meetings, preparing agendas, drafting of reports, minute taking, and communications

Ways of Working:


Remote First - The majority of our roles can be performed remotely, however you may work from the office as often as you wish.

Whilst you will be predominantly working from home, we may at times require you to come to your contracted office (up to 2-4 days per month).
