Recruiting for a Support Worker to join our Mental Health service at Redbridge, Ilford
£23,000.00 per annum, working 40 hours per week, plus 25 days Annual Leave, Pension schemes, Staff discounts, healthcare and more.

Shift patterns: 8-4pm, 2-10pm
plus sleeping, Monday to Sunday and 2 days off each week. Includes BH and weekend working


Job Overview:

Carolyn House Service provides housing and support to individuals experiencing Mental Health issues for up to two years. We promote social inclusion and develop life skills for independent living. We also work with several agencies and organisations in the local area to meet individual customers' needs.

We support customers to build confidence in order to empower them to use community resources; we promote healthy lifestyles and wellbeing and offer customers choice and control over the activities they would like to participate in.

The service is staffed 24 hours 7 days a week.

All customers referred to the Service are allocated a support worker who will provide guidance and support on a range of issues and help signpost customers to relevant services located in the Redbridge Borough.


Shift Patterns:


The Post holder will be expected to work on a rota basis (Monday - Sunday) and two sleep-ins per week.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Build supportive, trusting relationships with customers and creating a positive atmosphere.
  • Undertake keyworking responsibilities for a caseload assigned by the Contract Manager.
  • Provide customer medication support and ensuring that medication procedures are followed.
  • Conduct regular key work sessions that are innovative and engaging in order to achieve Support Plan goals.
  • Ensure ongoing assessment and management of risks associated with customers within an attitude of 'positive risk taking'.
  • Provide support with daily living activities, as well as practical assistance to support customers to independent living e.g. budgeting, cooking, community activities.
  • Undertake initial and continuous assessment of needs and potential risks and agree levels of support and actions.
  • Create support/action plans for providing appropriate services based on the assessment and reflecting the services and resources available.
  • Support customers to undertake all domestic tasks wherever possible, including practical assistance where they have not yet developed the skills, to ensure customers enjoy a high quality of accommodation
  • Develop and maintain links with all key agencies and service providers in the local community
  • Empower customers to ensure they receive the service and benefits they are entitled to
  • Undertake all administrative work and keep accurate and comprehensive customer records to professional standards
  • Encourage and enable customers to pay their rent and to ensure that rent accounts are managed effectively in conjunction with the Housing Management team
  • Adhere to Look Ahead's Policies and Procedures
  • Engage in learning and development activity to increase knowledge and skills
  • Undertake any other duties consistent with the grade and nature of the post as may be reasonably assigned

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:


Desirable:


  • Up to NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent or experience in the social care/charity sector
  • Experience working in Mental Health
