The role consists of:

Sales ledger reconciliation.
Deal with new customer accounts, including obtaining credit references, setting up account details and agreeing credit limits.
Monitor creditworthiness of existing customers.
Handle disputed customer accounts and negotiate accordingly to bring in monies in line with payment terms.
Evaluate accounts for debt collection and legal action, escalate where appropriate to the Credit Control Manager.
Post and allocate customers receipts
Answer queries and enquiries from internal and external customers.
Ensure monthly processing deadlines are met.
The ability to work as part of, to collaborate with, and contribute to a team of experts in their own fields
Proactive team player with an enthusiastic manner, who takes a flexible, 'cando' approach to work
The desire to deliver excellent client service, exceed set objectives and to push boundaries
Able to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and manage relationships with colleagues and clients
Strong communication skills verbal and written
Attention to detail and strong organisational skills
Experience and understanding of a practice management system or similar multi

- function finance software

Competency in the main MS products (excel, word, outlook)
Basic understanding of accounting aspects such as provisions, write offs and account reconciliations would be helpful
Experience of engaging with Partners and Fee Earners and demonstrable examples of debt meetings and client liaison
At least three years' experience at Credit Controller level, preferably operating within a professional services firm
