Brief


We are currently looking for a Support worker to work in an "Outstanding" Ofsted rated Residential home to work with children with Autism and additional needs based in Ilkeston Derbyshire.

with their day to day lives to form better connections and also supportthem with their education and learning.


Your duties and responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of new techniques and approaches to the childcare provision
  • Encourage development of individual interests and attitudes
  • To promote, safeguard and protect the welfare of each young person
  • Establish and maintain positive and trusting relationships with the young people that will promote their sense of security
  • Provide firm, consistent, and fair boundaries in respect of their behaviour and employ appropriate and agreed sanctions
  • Assist Young People in the development and sustaining of positive social networks with adults and other peer groups
  • To organise and participate in group activities and group holidays
  • To assist in the provision/preparation of meals in the home
  • Observe and assess the behaviour of Young People
  • To engage in and supervise day to day care practices, creating an accepting environment conducive to the positive personal development of each Young Person
  • To always work within the principles of the therapeutic parenting model
  • You must ensure that safeguarding underpins every aspect of your practice, and that the safety of each young person in the Company's care is paramount. You must report any practice that may put a young person at risk immediately to your line manager, orhigher if appropriate.

Shift Patterns
A combination of early shifts, late shifts and full days with occasional sleep-in duties. All positions include working some weekends and bank holidays.

  • Late 14: or sleep
  • Early 07:3015:00
  • Full 07:30 22:00 or sleep
  • Nights Waking Night Support Workers only)
  • The above salaries do not include sleep in's, at a rate of £40 per sleep, which can add an additional £2,080 per year on average.

Requirements:


  • A right to work in the UK
  • A minimum of two professional references
  • A full DBS (or willing to undergo the checks)
  • Experience working with children with Autism or additional needs
  • Youth work, work experience, classroom voluntary experience or previous roles.
