Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Carer to join our busy 32 bedded care home, working 5 shifts per week, a mixture of early and late shifts with alternate weekends.


Purpose of Job:

To work alongside a our deputy manager in the provision of resident care.

To act as a mentor to other carers through being an example and through supporting them in their supervision, development and appraisal.


Key Responsibilities:


  • To organise and direct other care assistants throughout a shift of work
  • To assist in the formal supervision of other carers
  • To assist the trained nurse or manager in the appraisal of other carers
  • To take on the role of key worker for a group of residents
  • To be responsible for the administering of medicines
  • To respect the individual rights and choices of residents
  • To respond to the different cultural values and diversity of residents
  • To ensure the health and safety of residents; to report any health and safety issues or equipment failures to the manager
  • To communicate effectively with colleagues and managers
  • To provide personal care to residents regarding their daily living needs
  • To contribute to the therapeutic and social programmes offered to individual residents
  • To carry out moving and handling in accordance with training and inhouse policy
  • To assist residents to live a normal lifestyle, including sleeping at night
  • To assist residents in retaining memory and life skills
  • To supervise residents at mealtimes, ensuring that they have a satisfactory intake of nutrition consistent with their preferences and needs
  • To undertake generic cleaning duties, particularly at night
  • To dispose of waste safely and in accordance with care home policy.

Salary:
£11.00 per hour


Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Weekend availability

Experience:

- providing care: 1 year (preferred)

- supervisory: 1 year (preferred)


Licence/Certification:

  • Driving Licence (preferred)
  • NVQ Level 2 Health & Social Care (preferred)
