Reporting to the Director of Charities & Voluntary Services, the Head of Fundraising & Communications will work to lead and manage the fundraising and communications teams, exemplifying and demonstrating the Trust charity's values and behaviour.


The post holder will work to design, deliver, monitor and evaluate a multi-disciplinary fundraising and communications strategy that, both, promotes the charity's key messages and generates funds to agreed activity, financial and targets.


  • Lead and support the Fundraising and Communications team
  • Lead the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of an ambitious fundraising and communications strategy
  • Ensure effective evaluation and monitoring systems are in place
  • Support the development and implementation of the wider charity organisational strategy
  • Work with the Director to set the annual fundraising and communications targets, budgets and reforecasts
  • Be a passionate representative and advocate of the Trust charity
  • Develop and deliver the UHSx Trust charity twoyear fundraising strategy to meet agreed activity and financial targets
  • Lead on securing large (sixfigure) multiyear grants
  • Identify new fundraising opportunities
  • Lead the Trust charity's communications function.
  • Be responsible for development and management of the new Trust charity brand
  • When requested, deputise for the Director at meetings / events, or to cover their duties in the event of their absence.

Strategy

  • Lead and support the Fundraising and Communications team
and be a source of expertise, knowledge and guidance to the rest of the organisation on fundraising and communications matters.

  • Lead the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of an ambitious fundraising and communications strategy
that will generate profile and ensure year on year fundraising growth.

  • Ensure annual fundraising and communications plans are delivered to budget, strive for ambitious targets, and contain the necessary level of innovation to support longer term growth of the fundraising portfolio.
  • Ensure effective evaluation and monitoring systems are in place
for assessing the impact of the newly merged charity's fundraising and communications initiatives, and to provide regular information and reports to the Director of Charities & Voluntary Services and the CFC.

  • As part of the charity Senior Leadership Team, support the development and implementation of the wider charity organisational strategy, creating the environment to ensure that our fundraising and communications strategies are maximised to their full potential.
  • Work with the Director to set the annual fundraising and communications targets, budgets and reforecasts
, providing regular financial, KPI, and narrative reports to the Director and CFC.

  • Lead and manage the Fundraising and Communications team and ensure staff are developed, invested in, and motivated to contribute to our charity mission.
  • Be a passionate representative and advocate of the Trust charity
, the new charity brand and the wider UHSx to all internal and external stakeholders.
