City & Hackney Centre for Mental Health is a mental health hospital based at Homerton Hospital that provides assessment and treatment for male and female individuals experiencing acute mental health difficulties.

Connolly Ward's aim is to deliver a patient focused care that provides patients with an opportunity to better understand the crisis or behaviour that resulted in their admission and to learn coping skills to reduce the risk of relapse.

The post holder will focus on forming therapeutic, meaningful relationships with patients, they will use a range of interventions/activities to enhance their care and improve their inpatient experience


This will include:

  • Work with patients on an individual and group basis through the recovery process.
  • Assist in the delivery of therapeutic/ health promotion groups and activities for service users
  • Assist in the delivery of health promotion activities for individual service users and groups of service users.
  • Provide general support to all team members.
  • Be prepared to participate in staff support groups/team away days
  • Identifying and communicating to senior staff how health, safety and security can be improved within the team and throughout the service


The post holder will work with other members of the MDT to both organise and facilitate activities appropriate to the individual needs of the patient group looking into consideration capabilities, limitations and risk management.
