The Role:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant specializing in ASD, SEMH, and AS support, your experience with personal care will be invaluable in providing tailored assistance to students facing these specific challenges


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing oneonone support to students with ASD, SEMH, and AS, both inside and outside the classroom, including personal care assistance as needed.
  • Implementing strategies and interventions to support students' social and emotional development, communication skills, and sensory needs, while ensuring their physical wellbeing.
  • Collaborating closely with teachers and SENCO to create individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior support plans (BSPs) for students, incorporating personal care requirements.
  • Assisting with the integration of students into mainstream classroom settings, ensuring their needs are met and accommodations are provided, including personal care support.
  • Offering guidance and encouragement to students, promoting independence and selfconfidence, while providing compassionate personal care assistance.

Requirements:


  • Experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant, with a focus on supporting students with ASD, SEMH, and AS, and significant experience in personal care in any capacity.
  • Sound knowledge of strategies and interventions for addressing the specific needs of students with these conditions, coupled with the ability to provide sensitive personal care support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, while maintaining dignity and respect in personal care assistance.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with SEN, coupled with a strong commitment to their holistic wellbeing.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN education or related fields (desirable but not essential).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
