We are recruiting for an Associate to support our Future Energy offering across Banking and Finance, Corporate, Commercial and Regulatory matters.

This role is based in London, on a full-time basis.


This position would best suit a qualified Solicitor between 1-2 year's PQE, with a broad background in renewables, who is looking for a flexible role offering exceptional quality work, team collaboration and opportunities for progression.


Your Role:

As a key addition to our growing team, day to day you can expect to be involved with:

  • Providing commercial energy contracts and energy regulatory support to Partners and Legal Directors on future energy transactions and deal execution across a broad range of practice areas, including finance, regulatory, commercial contracts, construction, real estate and corporate.
  • Managing your own transactions for a variety of clients in the Future Energy sector, including generators, offtakers and suppliers, innovative market access providers, commercial energy customers, developers, investors and funders.
  • Providing specialist commercial energy and energy regulatory support to senior team members on M&A and financing transactions (for example on due diligence and SPA warranties).
  • Providing commercial energy and specialist energy regulatory advice, including advising public and private sector clients, negotiating route to market agreements and providing asset management support.
  • Remaining at the forefront of the energy market, particular in light of REMA, by undertaking ongoing research and assisting with the production of legal knowhow.
  • Supporting in the continued development and growth of the Future Energy sector at TLT, by participating in business development activities.

Your Skills & Experience:


You must be/have:

  • A Qualified Solicitor (SRA or Law Society Registered) with 12 years PQE, with experience advising future energy/renewables clients on regulatory and general commercial matters. Experience of being seconded to an energy company would be highly beneficial.
  • A forward thinker, with excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills, you will be selfmotivated with the ability to manage workloads and deadlines.
  • Commercially aware with enthusiasm for business development, and an appetite for keeping up to date with the latest developments in your practice area and sector focus.
  • Able to understand your client's business needs, and act in the best interest of the firm and the client.
  • An ambitious and enthusiastic team player, able to support senior fee earners and contribute to our collaborative culture.

Your Team:


Operating from offices across the UK, our expanding and ambitious partner-led team provide tactical, commercially minded services across all aspects of the Future Energy sector, with over 100 lawyers dedicated to the sector.

We act for a broad range of clients in the sector, including developers, institutional investors, banks, non-bank lenders and the public sector, covering both established technologies such as solar, wind and hydro to newer technologies such as battery storage, heat pumps, electric vehicles, hydrogen and CCUS.
