Description
We are seeking a talented and creative Junior Designer to join our clients team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about design and wants to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment.


Role Overview:


Full time, permanent. Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm.


The CAD Technician reports directly to the Operational Director and will be responsible for the Setting out / CAD technician role is a key part of our high-quality Joinery Business.

Responsible design wise for the development of clients aspirations into finished products.

In doing this the designer has to be mindful of many things;
Costs, lead times for procurement and fabrication, delivery to site, build ability, fit for purpose.

As products develop communication is key both within the company and outside, monitoring changes of design, reporting these in the correct manner so that variations of the contract can be assessed.


Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for projects assigned, to complete them to the client's satisfaction, from start to finish;
  • Produce detailed joinery construction drawings using CAD & Solid Works.
  • Where practical, value engineer the materials and or construction to reduce the project's cost. Whilst doing this, we must maintain to construct safe and fit for purpose units;
  • Produce timber sheets for the workshop;
  • Identify Critical Purchases;
  • Liaise with the buyer and Process materials orders following drawings approval in the correct and prompt manner;
  • Attend handover meetings for new Projects along with Team and work to programmes;
  • Liaise with Production & Project Manager to assess best methods of manufacture;


  • Produce RFI

  • Request for information as Project develops;
  • Liaise with QS on amended drawings to ensure changes are able to be picked up easily;
  • Attend update meetings when required;
  • Carry out site based surveys;
  • Give Feedback to keep Team informed from time to time as required as drawing progresses.
  • Be aware of business continuity processes via Line Manager.

Knowledge skills & experience

  • CAD/ Setting out within Joinery
  • Must have previous Experience and a strong ability in Inventor/Autocad;
  • CAD and Setting Out Experience, high level of competency within Specialist area of Bespoke Joinery;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Can do, positive attitude;
  • Team Player.

  • Production of programmes using recognised planning tools and methodologies
  • Managing any issues relating to the project delivery and team
  • Other ad hoc duties commensurate with this position
