Main Laying Operative - Cossington, United Kingdom - Wessex Water

Do you have experience in ground works? Are you looking for your next challenge where you can be part of a team? If so, we have a great opportunity for you in our main laying team.
This role will see you traveling across our west region which covers the west of Somerset, and everything in between.
What you'll do:
As an Operative, you will have day-to-day responsibility for assisting a team leader.
- the work will be busy and vary from day to day, covering the west water supply networks
- day to day, you will be assisting a Team Leader in installing new water mains and carrying out replacements using mechanical excavation, pipe bursting, directional drilling, installing service, leaks, and landscaping on the Water Distribution Network
- ensure all works are completed safely and are compliant with company policies and procedures, maximising all controllable factors to meet external quality targets
- attend safety updates and workplace communications to ensure works are carried out safely and to the best possible standard.
You will be working within a great team which works outdoors in all weathers and deals with different challenges every day, providing a vital service to our client
What you'll need:
To be successful, you'll need:
- a positive and can-do attitude who is well-organised, customer-focused, and a great team player with good communication skills
- it is essential to hold a valid UK driving license
- experience within the construction industry
- previous experience working as part of a team for a utility service provider would be ideal
- ideally hold a Mains laying and Service Laying qualification
- up-to-date Hygiene Card and a valid driving license
- all whilst ensuring works are delivered in line with the Wessex Water ethos of safety, quality, time, and cost, as well as following company policies and procedures.
