As a
Senior Project Manager working within the NHS, you will be responsible for leading, managing, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects or work streams of moderate complexity and risk.

In this role, you will be providing an expertproject management framework for project teams and mentoring and training for the project team including project officers and product owners.

The successful
Senior Project Manager will work with a large NHS body based in South Wales.

The position will be temporary, up until the end of March 2023.


Description

The key responsibilities of the Senior Project Manager include:

  • Be actively involved in the setting of the operational, technical and strategic objectives of the project.
  • Identify and reconcile key stakeholder interests in the project
  • Clarify the project scope and definition in order to plan effectively
  • Identify, assess and prioritise risk associated with the project
  • Assess project feasibility and negotiate necessary amendments with the Programme Manager/Lead
  • Development of business case (if appropriate), including option appraisal and preferred option, full project costs, high level benefits, resource plan etc.
  • Develop plans to achieve the project goals
  • Planning and organising broad range of complex activities and programmes of work
  • Developing and monitoring project plans which requires sound analytical judgments involving complex facts or situations which require the undertaking of analysis, interpretation and comparison of several options to achieve the goals ensuring that they areconsistent with the agreed project scope.
  • Correctly identify and manage dependencies and deliverables
  • Collaborate on the production of product descriptions, ensure they are fit for purpose and signed off before work is significantly progressed

Profile

The successful Senior Project Manager:


  • Change management methodologies, e.g. LEAN (formal or informal)
  • PRINCE2 accredited
  • Knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling projects e.g. PRINCE
  • Experience of understanding delivery milestones and implementing project plan actions/tasks
  • Experience of project managing a portfolio of projects ranging in complexity, including escalation and required actions
  • Experience and knowledge of the IT procurement process including business case development
  • Experience of implementing service developments based on policy and/or targets
