We are currently working in conjunction with a Leighton Buzzard client who are seeking a Trainee CAD Designer to join their core team.


Role:

The Trainee CAD Designer would be required to create CNC programs and establish manufacture methods for customer orders, using drawings and specifications supplied.


Duties Include:


  • Creating high quality CNC programs.
  • Creating CAD drawings clearly detailing machine settings and methods of manufacture throughout the conversion process.
  • Ability to manipulate and interrogate customer CAD files.
  • Where required, drawing customer supplied parts in either 2D or 3D.
  • Logging departmental KPI information.
  • Working to tight deadlines.
  • Creating artwork for our patented printing process.
  • Checking and reprogramming/reexporting legacy programs.
  • To undertake any other duties, from time to time, as can be reasonably requested by the company.

Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with engineering drawings.
  • Demonstrated experience with some form of CAD/CAM package.
  • Demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate an ability to work independently on a variety of tasks.
  • Basic knowledge of how CNC machines operate.
  • Pragmatic considerations towards machining.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • A pragmatic approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent spatial awareness.
  • Experience working within a fast paced environment.
  • Strong IT skills, especially when using MS Office.

Hours of work (operates a 3 shift system):

  • Early
  • 6.00a.m. -2p.m. Monday to Friday
  • Day 8.30a.m p.m. Monday to Thursday, 8.30a.m. 1p.m. Friday
  • Late 1.30p.m. 10p.m. Monday to Thursday, 1.30p.m p.m. Friday
