  • Range £50,000.00 to £55,000.00Job Purpose


A member of the Food Safety and Quality Team and operationally sitting within the Site Operations Support team; this role reports to the Head of Food Safety and Quality.


An integral member of the FSQ team, leading defined aspects of the food and feed safety and quality management system and working in partnership with Commercial Customer Managers to be the voice of the customer on site.

Core Accountabilities

  • Coach and Support teams to: maintain the standards and KPI targets required on site; enable prompt and comprehensive investigations and response to customer complaints and internal incidents; and provide guidance on the local implementation of the FS&Q Strategy and Objectives
  • Ensure that processes for good governance are in place on site to monitor site FSQ performance and enable concerns to be raised to the site leadership team.
  • Lead site Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) and Threat Assessment (TACCP) Teams.
  • Promote initiatives that support a positive Food Safety culture.
  • Support customer and regulatory site visits and audits.
  • Liaise closely with the Commercial Teams to ensure customer policies and expectations are clearly understood and acted upon by the site leadership team.
  • Ensure that FSQ are considered in local change management, continuous improvement activity, capex projects and PPCA initiatives, encouraging a rightfirsttime approach.
  • Contribute to cross site FSQ related internal audit activity. Support supplier audits if required.
  • Work effectively with FSQ business partners across other sites as the nominated 'expert' in specified aspects of the FSQ Management system / product group. Ensure good practise policies and procedures are shared and that corporate initiatives are effectively managed at local level.
Skills, Knowledge & Competencies

  • Educated to degree level in a science based preferably food discipline
  • HACCP level 3 and level 4 in Food Safety
  • Experience and / or formal training in GFSI based certification systems
  • Strong communication skills, good influencer, able to work cross functionally and engage externally with customers and suppliers where necessary
  • Practical knowledge / formal training of lean tools and techniques
  • Practical knowledge / formal training in project management techniques
  • Demonstrable experience in a high volume FMCG environment
  • Ability to organise and prioritise
  • Works on own initiative and ability to work as part of a team
