Role Purpose
We are recruiting for a motivated and experienced individual to join us as a Frame Conservator.
The post holder will be responsible for delivering frame conservation support to the onsite permanent and temporary displays programmes, additionally supporting other programmes as required.
The post holder will collaborate closely and effectively with other conservation disciplines, and provide expert guidance to Curatorial & Collections and Exhibitions staff.
As such, in addition to the key accountabilities and responsibilities listed the post holder may be required to perform other duties commensurate with the scope and/or level of the role.
Key Skills and Criteria:
The successful applicant will need to be educated to degree level with a recognised post-graduate qualification in the conservation of frames or equivalent training/experience
It is fundamental that they have frame conservation experience working with a collection in another museum or heritage institution. As such, they will have experience and knowledge of caring for historic frames, and preparing them for display and loan
They will have experience of working collaboratively with conservation and collections teams, providing expert advice and guidance.
The role is busy and varied so it is important that the post holder has strong organisational and scheduling skills with the ability to prioritise, manage and co-ordinate a heavy workload and work to tight deadlines.
