The V&A is the world's leading museum of art, design and performance, housing a collection of over 2.8 million objects that document 5,000 years of human creativity from across six continents.

The Museum holds many of UK's designated National Collections, including sculpture, ceramics, metalwork, têxtiles and furniture, and including extensive collections of prints, drawings, posters, photographs and portrait miniatures.

It is also home to the National Art Library, which holds the UK's most comprehensive public reference library for the fine and decorative arts, as well as special collections of the art of the book ranging from the Middle Ages to the present day.

The V&A's Archive Collections hold extensive archives of over 1,000 individuals, associations and companies involved in the fields of art, design and performance, documenting process and practice.

The V&A is looking for a costume display conservator to join the costume mounting team. This role will support the museum with the mounting of objects for the Chanel exhibition. Tasks will include the design and preparation of complex mounts for dress.


Applicants will be part of a large busy team and must have previous costume mounting experience gained working in a museum, conservation workshop or private conservation practice.

Applicants must also be able to demonstrate pattern-cutting with advanced sewing and construction skills.

This is a fixed term role for 2 months, working 3 days per week. Flexibility regarding working hours and work pattern can be considered and discussed at interview.
