Sharp Consultancy are pleased to be working in partnership with highly successful business who specialise in transport solutions.

They are in search of a
Payroll Administrator to join their finance team at their Doncaster site, which is an accessible location in the South Yorkshire region, being close to major transport links such as the M18 and A1.

This is a
part time, permanent role (up to 28 hours).

Key responsibilities of this role include, but not exclusive to:

  • Responsible for the monthly payroll (90+ Employee's), preparation for hourly (8 Staff) and monthly paid staff.
  • Payroll processing, payments to EE's, HMRC, Westfield and Court Orders, for 4 sites.
  • Inputting and checking of weekly timesheets from Time & Attendance System for all staff.
  • Managing new starters and leavers, weekly timesheet approval / time off requests.
  • Maintain and Monitor absence/sickness and balance holiday records.
  • 52week average holiday pay calculations for all hourly Staff.
  • Dealing with system related queries.
  • Calculating 6monthly absence bonus for all staff via attendance register.
  • Pay quarterly and monthly bonus payments.
  • Dealing with requests for information from HMRC.
  • Managing and paying attachments to earning, Court Orders for fines and council tax arrears, student Loans etc.
  • Management of SSP, SMP and SPP and ensuring all forms are recieved.
  • Management of Price Contributory Westfield Health Scheme and the Apprenticeship Levy Scheme.
  • Inputting/Checking of auto enrolment pension information, sending to pension provider for assessment and ensuring correct pension deductions for staff.
  • Responsible for Payroll Month end and Yearend Reporting /Closing.
  • Monthly Wages & Salaries Reconciliation Payroll to Nominal Ledger.
  • Input annual HMRC payment to bank for P11d's Class 1A NIC's.
  • Code / check purchase invoices for agency staff for all sites, then pass to finance team for batch input into accounts system, authorising and clear query flag, ready for payment.
  • Monthly KPI's for payroll within 5 days of payroll date & detailed breakdown of absence by reason / employee.
  • Annual review of payroll allowances/Rates
  • Pensions, Meal Supplements, Nights Out, hours worked by staff and ensure that all HMRC Rules / NLW guidelines are complied with.
  • General ad hoc assistance in the HR / finance team to cover holidays, sickness and busy periods.
  • Writing and keeping up to date "How to" notes for the role and for employees, managers and Administrators for both the payroll and time & attendance system.
  • Processing payroll for hourly paid and salaried staff in one monthly payroll, with various bonus schemes and processing additional manual payments.
  • Excellent telephone manner and experience in building relationships, both written and oral


  • Excellent Excel Skills

  • Intermediate Level or above
  • This is essential, as the payroll Excel working sheets use Lookups to pull data that need amending monthly.
  • Ability to multitask, with great accuracy
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to use existing systems and follow procedures efficiently and make suggestions for improvements
  • Ability to use own initiative and work unsupervised, or as part of a team dependant on the task
  • Knowledge in SSP, SMP, SPP, student Loans and attachments to earnings, and processing payments on HSBC bank system or similar.
  • Must have experience in communications with HMRC and dealing with queries in a quick and efficient manner.
  • Must have experience with payroll year end, checking payroll software updates.
  • Experience of Project work, and changing clocking in + payroll systems would be an advantage.

£28,000.00-£33,000.00 per year
