We have a fantastic opportunity for a Veterinary Patient Care Assistant to join our team here at County Vets in Sandbach


This is a fixed term contract for 12 months working up to 30 hours per week over 4 or 5 days.

There may be some Saturday morning working, which is usually 1 in every 4. Your earliest start would be 8am and your latest finish 7pm. This is not an apprenticeship role.


The Patient Care Assistant role is one of the foundations of an outstanding veterinary practice, as a PCA you would be involved in supporting our team of qualified RVNs, Vets and Receptionists to provide outstanding care to our patients, working alongside a lovely team of people.

You will likely work 50% of your hours supporting the clinical team and the remaining 50% supporting the reception team.


This role will involve animal handling, assisting vets and nurses in restraining animals for treatment, cleaning, walking and feeding patients, general cleaning and maintenance duties, answering phone calls, working to help and cover the reception desk, greeting clients and providing the highest standards of animal and customer care.

The role of a PCA is very varied and no two days are the same. You will enjoy being part of a busy fast paced working environment.

Main duties:


  • Assisting with nursing care to patients
  • Assisting vets and nurses in restraining animals for treatment
  • Assisting and working alongside the reception team.
  • Cleaning, walking, and feeding of patients
  • Preparation of emergency and operating facilities
  • General cleaning and maintenance duties
  • Running internal lab samples
  • Answering emergency calls
  • Serve clients and take payments
  • To provide a friendly, efficient and effective service to clients

On occasion, you may be required to work at one of the sister branches in Alsager or Newcastle under Lyme
The salary for this position will be in line with National Minimum Wage +3% cost of living increase.
