THE BUSINESS
Westray Recruitment Group is recruiting a Warehouse and Logistics Manager to work for our client based in Gateshead.

THE ROLE
Reporting directly into the Operations Manager this is a 'hands on' role with responsibility for managing the day-to-day operation of the warehouse and logistics function

  • Effectively manage an accurate and efficient goods in / goods out operation
  • Organise, manage and motivate the Warehouse/Logistics team to ensure the smooth running of the warehouse and logistics operation
  • Manage Warehouse/Logistics budget to ensure costs maintained within agreed parameters and report on same
  • Maintain effective liaison with third party transport/off site storage provider to ensure business needs and customer requirements are met on time and in full
  • Production of accurate and timely management information and reports
  • Ensure H&S requirements are met within the operation function, reporting feedback, and following procedures where required
  • Organise and manage on and offsite stock levels and 'call off' as appropriate
  • Effective use of the warehouse management system
  • Conduct perpetual stock control/regular stock takes ensuring stock levels are accurate to enable effective planning for future stock requirements
  • Management of Company vehicle maintenance schedule and associated activities
  • Manage fork truck fleet, liaising with suppliers to oversee planned and ad hoc maintenance of vehicles, machinery, and equipment
  • Manage Optafleet system, taking required actions and reporting accordingly
  • Ensure a clean, organised, and wellmaintained warehouse facility
  • Contribute to the business by identifying opportunities for improving working practices, processes and/or procedures based on experience

THE PERSON

  • Strong leadership skills and previous experience within a Logistics and Warehouse environment
  • Proven record of managing and coordinating people and processes
  • Competent in the use of IT systems, experience of NAV / ERP systems would be highly advantageous
  • Current Forklift Licence
  • CPC knowledge/qualification
  • Proven ability to communicate professionally at all levels
  • Able to prioritise a varied workload to meet operational demands
