The Company


We are looking for a
Purchasing Assistant to work in a small team to manage all purchasing and supplier related activities required to ensure the on-time supply of specification compliant material.


Responsibilities/Duties:


  • Purchase all assigned materials and services required to meet the production schedule and customer requirements.
  • Maintain all purchase order delivery dates and expedite overdue orders, as required to minimize delays to production or customer requirements.
  • Proactive monitoring and maintenance of production shortage lists to ensure delivery of components in line with production requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for and prepare supply contracts with key vendors and vendor scheduling where appropriate.
  • To raise and sign off on purchase orders for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Minimise the inventory levels required to support the company's sales and production plans.
  • Monitor purchasing EOQ's and safety stocks where appropriate to optimize the service of supply and overall procurement and inventory carrying cost.
  • Reduce material costs by sourcing alternative vendors and/or component manufacturers.
  • Recommend potential alternative suppliers and costing arrangements

Skills, Qualifications and experience

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar purchasing role
  • Understanding of credit management is advantageous
  • Exposure to the manufacturing industry is advantageous
  • Able to multi task and work under pressure
  • Business acumen and excellent negotiation skills
  • Self driven; always wanting to improve the current situation and processes; looking ahead to what tasks are coming and works to be prepared for them.
