Development Test Technician in Aerodynamic / Wind Noise Test - JP

Cranfield

To start ASAP - 12 months assignment
**Rate:
- £16.33/hr PAYE**
Deliverables

  • Preparation / building / maintenance of vehicles or components for test in line with local procedures and Engineering Manuals.
  • Support testing with travel to/from windtunnel (Europe) to gather accurate, timely, and quality test data/results.
  • Support Evaluation and concern identification including liaison with Test Engineer.
  • Support delivery of Key Performance Indicators for test section
  • Use skills to provide support to other sections as required.

Description

  • Regular Wind-Tunnel test support in Europe (Travel pre/posttest)
  • Vehicle test preparation:
  • Vehicles disassembly, assembly & maintenance
  • Wheel alignment / vehicle track + posture setting
  • Panel gap and flush measurement
  • Wind tunnel model /part preparation
  • Part fabrication (Clay, Fibreglass, Card, 3D Printed)
  • Reprofiling / mirroring (Clay, Fibreglass, Foamboard, Card, 3D Printed)
  • 3D Scanning / Measurement
  • Instrumentation (Microphones, Pitot Tubes, Pressure tapping,)
  • Driving and evaluating prototype test vehicles on the test track
  • Liaise with Test / Design engineers to conduct tests to Standards and local procedures.
  • Working on next generation electric vehicles
  • Problem Solving (Diagnostics / methodical fault analysis).

Qualifications, Skills and Training Requirements
Ideally C&G / BTEC L3 in mechanical / Automotive or Electrical engineering and/or a recognised apprenticeship / relevant experience.

Ability to demonstrate strong methodical problem-solving including vehicle system knowledge and use of fault diagnosis equipment.

Experience within vehicle or component test environment is advantageous.

Basic machining / Fabrication experience preferred but not essential.

Basic Computer literacy (word processing)

Full UK Manual/Auto Driving Licence.

Fully proficient in the fundamental practical mechanical / electrical skills required for this role

Ability to work safely and to comply with legal and company safety policies

Flexibility to travel within Europe

Excellent organisational skills

Strong attention to detail

Be able to work independently to manage and prioritise their own workload
