This is an exciting time to be joining LJMU as we celebrate our bicentenary in 2023. We also have a clear strategic plan to positively impact our students, and our communities.

The Estate Development team are responsible for the maintenance, statutory compliance and development of the University estate.

We are a relatively small team of 21 staff located in the city centre and look after 41 buildings across 3 campuses.

Our estate is varied in age, style and character and offers different opportunities and challenges every day.

We have a vacancy for a Building Services Officer to support the Head of Engineering Services and the wider Estate Development team, providing specific advice on the mechanical and electrical infrastructure of the estate.

You will require a technical background in Building Services with an emphasis on mechanical services, and experience of energy data management and building energy management systems.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated engineer who is able to collect and analyse data from the estate and bring forward schemes of work that will improve the overall performance and efficiency of the University building stock.

As part of a small team you will need to be able to work independently and demonstrate the ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical stakeholders as well as being able to instruct contractors and consultants.

Good communication skills and the ability to plan your own workload are essential, and you will need to be prepared to work over evenings, weekends and public holidays if required.

Given the university's stated objective to be net zero carbon by 2035 the role will also focus on energy saving and carbon reduction initiatives and schemes to help us achieve our objectives.

LJMU values diversity and provides a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can fulfil their potential.
