The Role:

As Social Value Coordinator you can make your own powerful contribution to Westminster's success when you join the new team that's helping the Council and our partners spend more with under-represented organisations - these include small businesses, community organisations, global majority owned businesses and social enterprises.

Developing relationships with strategic suppliers and local business networks to advocate and facilitate local spend and supplier diversity, you'll leverage the related social value input to structure a package of support for the organisations we're targeting.

This could include business shadowing, mentoring, pro bono advice, networking opportunities and training.

Presenting the service and its benefits to business networks, you'll conduct research into the issues that London-based SMEs face in penetrating various markets, and identify barriers that strategic suppliers and business networks have in engaging and buying from SMEs.

Working with our procurement team to ensure that the social value outcomes relating to local spend and supplier diversity are built into the tendering process, you'll support the delivery of events, workshops and training for targeted organisations, with the aim of increasing spend with SMEs and encouraging higher value contracts.

You'll have a number of additional responsibilities, including tracking, monitoring and reporting on increased spend with SMEs, and helping to promote achievements and the impact of social value commitments.

We'll also expect you to conduct desk research to gain insights into best practice, and join London-wide networks to keep informed and share knowledge.

Job Description for more information.

About You:

With well developed experience of engaging with businesses and building relationships to deliver a positive impact within communities, you'll have worked with partnerships and SMEs in a similar role, and delivered and managed successful events.

Capable of using data and feedback to continuously improve services, you'll have good knowledge of the London SME market and its needs, and a practical understanding of social value and corporate social responsibility.

A proactive relationship builder with a positive and engaging approach to your work, you'll have the ability to converse with, understand, influence, establish and maintain credibility with business leaders.

With this in mind you'll be skilled at managing relationships with a range of different organisations and individuals, and be a natural problem solver with the capacity to devise and implement innovative solutions.

We'll also expect you to have excellent IT skills, with a particular focus on the Microsoft Office suite of software, and your superb verbal and written communication skills will allow you to build a confident rapport with stakeholders, external partners, managers and colleagues.
