Our team of transition technical consultants leads work specifically related to changing climate trends, how these impact our clients' businesses, and how to better navigate transition issues on the path to net zero.

Across the team, there is extensive expertise linked to the assessment of climate change scenario data, assessments of risk and opportunity including the use of advanced risk assessment techniques, financial impact quantification/ modelling, transition planning, and reporting.


  • ROLE DESCRIPTION & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • We will offer the opportunity to act as a project leader and manager, acting as the focal point for our work with clients across financial and corporate sectors. Working in collaboration with a Partner in Charge, you would act as the day to day contact and director of our work, leading teams and delivering proposals and project deliverables to clients. Projects typically extend across climate risk and opportunity, and for the right individual this offers the chance to act as a goto advisor to ERM's key clients.

More specifically the role will include:

  • Leading the analysis of transition climate data from multiple sources using ERM's proprietary suite of analytical tools, and ensuring that these and other outputs enable our clients to meet assessment, disclosure, and change implementation needs;-
  • Overseeing the preparation of reports, workshop materials, presentations, and technical summaries. The individual will be busy day to day on projects and be expected to meet expectations in terms of delivery across multiple projects simultaneously to achieve individual and team targets; and-
  • Leading and supporting Partners and teams to develop proposals, including for clients across a wide range of sectors. The individual will be expected to pitch and sell work on a regular basis, working alongside Partners and other leaders within the business.
  • The role will also include a significant element of technical leadership, acting in an advisory capacity to both ERM personnel and clients on how to assess, manage and disclose climate-related risks. This could include but is not limited to transition risk and opportunity driver data and assessment (including use of scenarios), development of climate processes, financial quantification, preparation of annual and other reporting and other topics.
  • More broadly, the role offers the opportunities to grow and develop, and grow CROA's presence, including
  • Through delivery of thought leadership;
  • Attending industry events including conferences; and
  • Staying ahead of industry developments by engaging with a range of industry stakeholders and experts.
  • PERSON SPECIFICATION


  • Background

  • Management Consulting (Strategy House, Big 4, Sustainability Consultancy firms etc ) with a qualification in a relevant field, e.g. sustainability, climate change, energy economics.
  • Leadership: Develop and implement the vision & strategy of the CROA team to develop client growth. Contribute to the development, growth, and management of a highperformance team, serving as a leader and mentor to more junior consultants.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills, particularly when working across diverse technical and commercial teams. The ability to translate complex transition issues into digestible content and advice for clients and other stakeholders.
  • Client Engagement: Acting as ERM's point of contact with our financial and corporate clients, to ensure we deliver excellent value and quality of service. Ability to engage with a range of senior stakeholders (e.g. CFO, CSO, Head of ESG etc.).
  • Business Development: Work with ERM's Partners to develop relationships with new clients and to expand relationships with existing clients by securing repeat business and generating new offerings

This includes:

  • Developing proposals, including written content, pricing, and client presentations; and
  • Building relationships with clients across economic sectors.
  • Technical knowhow: Strong technical capabilities, including the ability to research, review and appraise documentation on relevant topics. Extensive experience in delivering projects related to the key regulatory and reporting frameworks for assessing and disclosing climaterelated risks and opportunities is highly desirable. Understanding of financial modelling either through a relevant qualification and/or working experience.
  • Ideally, including knowledge of building bottomup cost estimates, asset valuation, developing pricing models and sensitivity analysis a key focus on 'transition risks and opportunities' is vital.
  • Business Transformation: Support clients in navigating their low carbon journey through an ability to shape and implement complex business change, develop multiyear transformational programmes and changes to strategy.
