Kitchen Assistant

Location:
Stanshawes Care Home

Working Hours: 31.25 hours per week

Weekend Requirement:
Every other weekend

Shifts: 8:00 am - 7:00 pm

Rate of Pay:
£10.50 per hour

Summary:

Stanshawes Care Home is seeking a dedicated and reliable Kitchen Assistant to join our team in providing exceptional care and support to our residents.

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen and dining services.

Your responsibilities will involve assisting with food preparation, serving meals, maintaining cleanliness, and fostering a welcoming environment for our residents.

Responsibilities:

Food Preparation:

Assist the kitchen staff in preparing and cooking meals, ensuring that all food is prepared to the highest quality standards and in compliance with relevant health and safety regulations.

Serving Meals:

Work alongside the kitchen team to serve meals to residents at designated meal times, ensuring portion control and adhering to specific dietary requirements.

Cleaning and Sanitisation:
Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment, including washing dishes, utensils, and equipment. Keep work areas and dining spaces clean and tidy at all times.

Stock Management:

Assist in monitoring kitchen supplies, such as food ingredients and cleaning materials, and promptly inform the kitchen manager of any shortages.

Resident Interaction:
Build positive relationships with residents and respond to their queries or requests courteously and professionally.

Health and Safety:
Adhere strictly to all health and safety guidelines and procedures, ensuring the prevention of accidents and injuries.

Team Collaboration:

Collaborate with other kitchen staff and care home team members to ensure seamless service delivery and maintain a supportive and cooperative work environment.

Compliance:
Comply with all policies and procedures set forth by Stanshawes Care Home and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Previous Experience:
Prior experience in a kitchen or catering environment is desirable but not essential. On-the-job training will be provided.

Food Hygiene Knowledge:
Basic understanding of food hygiene principles and safe food handling practices.

Physical Stamina:
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks that may involve heavy lifting or physical exertion.

Team Player:
A positive and cooperative attitude, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Communication Skills:
Good verbal communication skills to interact with residents and team members in a courteous and respectful manner.

Reliability:
Punctuality and dependability in adhering to assigned shifts and schedules.

Flexibility:
Willingness to work on weekends and adapt to changing work demands.
