Description
Site Lead - CNC

Ayrshire

Competitive package - great long term opportunity

We are delighted to be working exclusively with our manufacturing client based in Ayrshire on this newly created position for a Site Lead.

At present, the site is small with 15 people so it is important that the person coming in, can build relationships, lead by example and help paint the vision and journey that the team will embark on.

This is such a rare opportunity as the person will be required to take the team through a transformation journey in terms of processes and technologies being used and once this is achieved, you will be responsible for being the strategic operational support on a Global scale.

The company have already set up another small site overseas with plans to move into a new territory shortly. Phew

So we are seeking someone who has come from working on a CNC machining position but has had experience in leading teams and implementing Kanban/6s type initiatives, who is happy to be hands on initially to get to understand the materials and processes but has the capability, stretch and ambition to work towards a Director level position in the company.

This business is steeped in tradition but with amazing vision to move forward and it will take a special person to join them on this exciting journey.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop multi skilled shop floor technical team. Develop training matrix for employees and succession pathways.
  • Maintain quality levels throughout the site and develop a robust operating strategy to ensure quality is built into the core of the business as they grow
  • Improve on HS&E, risk assessing daily, maintain records and drive actions in order to reduce risk to each and every employee.
  • Continue to develop the key subcontract partners and supply chain.
  • Plan supply scheduling on weekly/monthly basis
  • Production planning
  • Develop LEAN / 5S concepts and roll out in an understanding and planned manner.
  • Building a strong culture through behaviours and standards
  • Developing preventative and predictive maintenance schedule

Another part of this role is to be the lead on new technologies being implemented whilst ensuring production targets and quality targets are maintained.

Excited? We are......

If you have the following skills and experience then we would like to talk to you...

  • Ideally time served or have experience of working CNC machines - being able to understand speeds and feeds as well as materials would be so beneficial in the infancy of this role
  • Be a good leader who can collaborate and think ahead and bring the team on the journey
  • Experience of working with Diamond tools would be an advantage (although not a must)
  • Have experience of leading teams in a manufacturing environment
  • Comfortable implementing new ways of working and improvement initiatives
