TRAFFIC is the leading non-governmental organization working globally on trade in wild animals and plants in the context of both biodiversity conservation and sustainable development.
TRAFFIC International is a charity and limited company registered in the UK. TRAFFIC's head office, based in Cambridge UK, provides worldwide leadership, coordination, cross-regional and corporate functions.TRAFFIC's local engagement is managed through programme offices operating under the auspices of the UK charity, with staff based in a hub office and at other strategic locations where necessary.
Programme offices operate within a geographic area of responsibility focused on one or multiple countries where TRAFFIC aims to help deliver priority programme outcomes.
TRAFFIC works in strategic alliance with IUCN and WWF on wildlife trade issues.PROJECT BACKGROUND
This position can be located in one of TRAFFIC's offices in Cambridge UK; Hanoi Vietnam; Kuala Lumpur Malaysia; or Bangkok Thailand.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES
- The Behaviour Change Specialist role will provide technical support to the mentioned projects and to the development of additional activities.
- Lead the design and review of materials, and provide support during the development, implementation and evaluation phases before incountry signoff. Prepare template e.g., Creative Briefs and ToR for organisations developing/ pretesting draft campaign materials and social research activities. Ensure the integrity and veracity of social research findings.
- Coordinate with Programme Office Directors and Project Managers to ensure that project activities are implemented to the required quality, on time, and within budget.
- Ensure that Behaviour Change initiatives are highimpact, costeffective and innovative, and draw from best practice in social and behavioural sciences, providing capacity building to others.
- Produce resources, reports, newsletters and capacity building materials, and help to deliver workshop and webinar activities for the Social and Behaviour Change Community, to increase the pickup of best practice in behavioural science across the conservation sector
- Provide broader support to TRAFFIC's work on social and behavioural change.
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree level qualification in a relevant discipline, such as social or behavioural science
- Must have experience delivering behaviour change initiatives
- Experience of working in Asia, with an understanding of and sensitivity to cultural differences
- Experience with large scale, highvalue, multiyear projects incl. from GAA donors
- Strongcommunicator with experience spanning a diverse range of audiences and stakeholders at multiple levels. Must be fluent in English, with excellent written and spoken communication skills. Additional language skills an advantage.
- A strong team player who can work on own initiative and be a selfdirected lateral thinker.
