The Academy Goalkeeping coach is responsible for the implementation of the academy goalkeeping syllabus as well as the technical, tactical, physical and psycho-social development and evaluate coaching sessions within the Foundation and youth development phases in line with the clubs coaching framework.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To plan, prepare and deliver coaching sessions in tandem with the club philosophy and academy goalkeeping syllabus
  • To organise academy goalkeepers' logistics for all training sessions, fixtures, tournaments and academy events.
  • To complete all relevant information on the PMA.
  • Attend fixtures, working constantly with the goalkeepers throughout.
  • Give regular feedback to all the goalkeepers using the performance data and footage from training sessions and fixtures.
  • Be responsible for maintenance of training / match balls, bibs, cones and all other relevant equipment as required by the academy.
  • To attend all inservice and coaching days as directed by the academy manager and head of academy coaching.
  • To recommend and recruit players for the academy in tandem with the Academy Head of Recruitment.
  • To assist in the decisionmaking process regarding the signing, or not of academy trialists and the retention of players currently at the club.
  • Construct and deliver detailed six and twelve weekly individual player progress reviews with goalkeepers and other relevant coaching staff for all academy goalkeepers.
  • Multidisciplinary communication between staff and players to ensure optimal wellbeing and development of all academy goalkeepers.
  • Liaise constantly with the 1st Team Goalkeeper Coach to ensure fluidity and synergy between departments.
  • Maintain honesty and integrity at all times when working with young goalkeepers at the football club.
  • Be presentable, smart and personable at all times when representing Luton Town Football Club.
  • To undertake all reasonable tasks delegated by the academy manager and head of academy coaching.

Education/Qualifications/Training:

Essentials

  • UEFA B License
  • UEFA Goalkeeping B License
  • Valid FA Safeguarding Children Certificate


  • Valid BFAS

  • Basic First Aid for Sport
  • Hold an enhanced DBS check
  • Full UK Driving License

Desirables

  • The FA UEFA A License
  • The FA UEFA A Goalkeeping
  • The FA Advanced Youth Award (Goalkeeping)

Specific Experience:


  • Experience in a similar or related role, demonstrating development and continuous improvement
  • Committed, enthusiastic and passionate about the development of goalkeepers.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a variety of different personnel at the football club.
  • An understanding of a range of teaching / learning styles to optimise the development of young goalkeepers
  • Excellent IT skills and experience in use of all Microsoft Office products
  • Committed and driven by deadlines and results
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as using one's own initiative developing players and coaching sessions.
  • Able to communicate effectively with players, parents and fellow staff members at all levels.
  • Able to adapt to the demands of the job and needs of the players / coaches.
